WELCOME TO THE XTC
This webpage sets out the principles and general rules by which the XTC shall be administered and the XTC events run. Specifications for in-person and on-line events are provided in the relevant pages and sections.
ORGANISATION AND PRINCIPLES
The XTC is an annual tabletop gaming event which invites gamers from across the world to participate. It is a team focused event, but may also support singles gaming as side events.
The XTC is run for the benefit of the international X-Wing gaming community, with the community taking a leading role in directing its activity. Organizer roles are appointed to carry out the actions necessary to arrange each year's event.
The XTC holds the following principles to be central to its events:
Sportsmanship;
Inclusivity;
Mutual respect.
Organizers shall act as the trustees or directors of such an organisation, in conjunction with the Judge Coordinator.
GAME SYSTEMS
XTC events revolve around the game “X-Wing The Miniatures Game (Second Edition)”.
Additional gaming systems can be added to physical events (with the same or custom tournament formats) according to the availability of space and the discretion of the event organiser.
Examples of other potential game systems to include are: Star Wars Armada, Star Wars Legion, Marvel Crisis Protocol. Please note all of the above are listed for the sake of providing examples, being played on similar size tables and with compatible tournament formats as per the original Asmodee North America/Fantasy Flight Games/Atomic Mass Games event documents.
COUNTRIES
Each Team in the XTC is considered to be representing a Country. Each Country shall be a territory with a confederation recognised by Fédération Internationale de Football Association ("FIFA") (https://www.fifa.com/associations/index.html).
TEAMS
A Team shall be comprised of Players, Coaches and Attaches (for in-presence events), representing a Country and participating in the event. The number of Players and Coaches is to be set by the specific event rulespack/infopack.
Each Team must contain a minimum number of Players who qualify to represent their Country according to FIFA's eligibility criteria set out in Annex 2 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (https://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/administration/regul ations_on_the_status_and_transfer_of_players_en_33410.pdf).
The minimum number of eligible Players in a Team shall be 5 out of 7 players.
Each Team may be required to provide proof that their players meet the requirement set out in Clause 4.c. above upon request by the Organizers.
If a Team is unable to meet the Player eligibility requirements under Clause 4.b. above due to last minute withdrawals (due to unforeseen events of which reasonable proof is provided), the organizers are entitled, using their discretion, to allow the Team to compete with replacement players under one of the following criteria:
as the original Country entered;
as a United Nations team with no affiliation to one Country.
A United Nations team, with no country affiliation, may be established once the registration of teams for an XTC Event is complete, to make an even number of teams. A United Nations team established for this purpose will be permitted attendance but will be removed in the event of further Team withdrawals, to maintain even numbers.
EVENT ORGANISERS
Who's behind the scenes?
The duties of the Event Organiser shall be as follows:
