BRINGING A TEAM TO XTC

You'll need a Captain!

A Captain is their nation's representative to the XTC Organization and the other Captains - one for each nation represented.

Captains shall make sure deadlines are kept, procedures are met, and that their team makes it to the XTC in the best prepared condition possible. The duties, time and effort to perform the above must not be taken lightly.

If your country is not represented in the XTC Events and you want to apply to become a Captain, please get in touch with the XTC Organization.

PROSPECTIVE CAPTAINS AND PROCEDURES FOR CAPTAINCY CHANGE

Details on how to become a captain or pass your role

A XTC Captain can only be changed by their own resignation, except for the cases listed in this document.

If a nation hasn’t been represented for at least two consecutive years, the first person to apply for captaincy with the Organizers (via email: xwingteamchampionships@gmail.com) will apply as the Prospecting Captain for that nation starting from that given year. After a brief investigation regarding the status of said nation/team in previous competitions, the XTC Organizers will provide feedback about the application.

In cases where said captaincy does not result in representation at the tournament, they will automatically forfeit their captaincy spot and in cases where non-representation is not communicated in a timely matter (at least 30 days before the team registration deadline), the XTC Tournament Organizer's shall reserve the right evaluate the position of the captain in future events. This may lead to not being able to be an active player, coach or non-playing captain in any of the XTC tournaments.

In the event of conflicting claims to captaincy/establishment of a new Team, the XTC Tournament Organizer’s shall assess each claim and shall endorse one party, to their discretion, and in the best interests of the XTC.

The Tournament Organizers shall not interfere with a national team's internal workings nor its captaincy except for the following cases:

  • If there has never been a captain for that nation in which case the first person who puts themselves forward and fits to be a member of that nation will be designated as its captain;

  • In cases where a captain remains inactive for a period no shorter than three months throughout official XTC communication channels;

  • If the captain's actions causes them to be removed from the organization as a result of a disciplinary action;

  • If a captain is proven to be not capable of bringing a team from their country to a tournament when there is a suitable Prospective Captain for the same representative team that can bring a team. In such cases the country will have another opportunity to provide a captain.

  • In cases where there is demonstrable proof that a captaincy seat is being blocked by an individual or group of people, and that a predefined system for selecting a certain country’s representation/captaincy status is not being followed, the XTC Organisers will investigate and make a determination.

XTC Organization shall not tolerate individuals trying to abuse their captaincy position to interfere with other individuals, group or supporting organization.

TEAM AND PLAYER ELIGIBILITY

Details on Nationality and Mercenaries

Each nation may have one team representing that nation at the XTC. Each Nation is a territory with a confederation recognised by “Fédération Internationale de Football Association'' ("FIFA"). The XTC Tournament Organizer’s have discretion on the implementation of this rule to form one or more United Nations Teams in case the number of teams that registers is odd or to assure increased inclusivity for the tournament.

A team for XTC will consist of a minimum of 5 players (see relevant sections in the event infopack), complemented by any number of coaches and attaches (for in-presence events only) and up to one non-playing captain if the captain is not playing. For a team to be eligible to play at a XTC tournament, they need at least 3 members of their team to be of the nationality of the team they are representing. Eligibility is determined on the following criteria:

A. The Player was born in the Nation;
B. The Player has a natural or adoptive parent or grandparent who were born in the Nation
C. The Player has resided in the Nation for the three calendar years immediately preceding the tournament.

The XTC Tournament Organizers shall be in charge of guarding the integrity of the tournament when it comes to its aspect of "nation vs nation". They shall have discretion in terms of establishing eligibility, last-minute dropouts affecting a team’s eligibility, and  the use of what is colloquially known as mercenary players; that are not eligible as a national player.

Teams may be required to provide proof that their players meet the requirements set out above, and the Tournament Organizer’s may review any team’s make-up if they feel the integrity of its competition, and the nation vs nation character of its tournament, is diluted for gaining an advantage because of the rules above. Teams are expected to strive to have 7 players on their team that meet nationality requirements.
